Type Wound Before You Read Distress.

A practice that loosens the self should not let distress be read first as spiritual depth, failure, or a demand for more practice, because the distress may be an ordinary human wound the negation method cannot itself generate. The discipline is two-stage. Stage one is a typed ordinary-wound screen with two prongs: prong (a), what ended, a person, marriage, role, body, future, belonging, or identity anchor, explicitly including losses that are real but socially unrecognized; prong (b), what has been chronically missing or slowly eroded, contact, recognition, agency, bodily stability, duty, a livable future. A positive answer on either prong establishes an ordinary wound and blocks premature metaphysical reading; only when both prongs are negative and the pressure is plainly method-generated does the question return to the practice. Stage two routes by support ecology, clinical risk, and observable return to ordinary conduct, with supported grief-transformation as a first-class outcome validated by the person becoming more present, connected, and less avoidant rather than by whether the language sounds grief-like or insight-like. Crucially, the two prongs may demand different repairs: continuing-bond and mourning work for event-loss, recognition-restoring, re-contact, and re-engagement work for erosion. Grief-facing and inquiry oscillate rather than queue.

Neither parent contained this unit. The proponent privileged a discrete ended object as the first gate; the depletion counter-model privileged chronic erosion; each alone misroutes the cohort the other serves. The new contribution is typing the wound at the gate so that wound-type, not metaphysical vocabulary, prescribes repair, joined to a conduct router and a supported-transformation class. The candidate is distinguished from general bypass-and-return diagnostics by the empirical bet that event-loss and erosion call for different repairs, and from a purely humane screen by demanding the gate earn its place against support-and-return-only routing.

The transformation buys coverage at the cost of diagnostic sharpness. 'What ended' could be named and corroborated; 'what eroded' is fuzzier, easier to inflate under distress, and hard to distinguish from depression, burnout, social anxiety, trauma response, or achievement-contingent self-worth. The erosion prong risks swallowing nearly all contemporary discontent, which both contradicts the doctrine's stated non-fit cases and threatens to keep the most depleted users self-interpreting instead of seeking contact and care. The loss-type field may add no incremental routing value once support, risk, and return are known, in which case the gate is an enabling precondition and the synthesis reduces to prior-art diagnostics. It needs a stop rule, an operational definition of supported-transformation that cannot excuse avoidance, and a care-and-function screen that may have to precede wound typing.
