The Teaching

When you take a strong instruction from a book, an app, a video, or a saved quote, you usually receive only the words. In its home, the same instruction came with a gate. A teacher decided whether you were ready. The words were chosen for the state you were in. Sometimes the whole correction lived there, at the front, and there was little left to check afterward.

So before you build on what you received, ask where the correction sat. Did anyone judge that this was for you, now? Was it shaped to your life, or clipped from someone else's? If the answer is that you took a fragment meant for a prepared person, the work is not to monitor yourself harder later. The work is to find the missing front: a real teacher, a fuller source, a person who can say this is not yet for you.
