Correction Scales With Claim Risk
Release matters only if ordinary life becomes more honest, careful, and whole.
At a glance
Letting go is not the same as disappearing. Memory, care, duty, and relationship still have to remain. The risk is turning freedom into drift or pride. A path should loosen identity without breaking responsibility.
- Release should not erase responsibility.
- The return to ordinary life is the test.
- Freedom becomes suspect when care weakens.
Originality audit
The audit found close neighbors, but the remaining claim still seems worth keeping and testing.
Closest Prior Art
- Internal Lumenary cluster: support Hypotheses Need Refusal, The Check Must Not Belong to You, The Audit You Cannot Hold Alone, Correction Must Be Legible, A Doubt You Never Obey Is Not Humility, in hypotheses/ideas.jsonl and Overlap: Very high. Difference: This candidate compresses that cluster into one governing checklist and adds the phrase risk-scaled correction record.
- Karl Popper, The Logic of Scientific Discovery, and Popperian severe-test tradition: Overlap: Close on anti-immunization, definite testability, severe tests, and the idea that a claim gains standing only through exposure to possible refutation. Difference: Popper is focused on scientific demarcation and empirical content, not pastoral or publication-risk routing for spiritual teachings.
- Imre Lakatos, Falsification and the Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes, and Lakatosian progressive versus degenerating problemshifts Overlap: Very close on the key concession that a claim need not be abandoned or lowered immediately when facing anomaly. Difference: Lakatos does not provide a human-condition rule for lonely, compulsive, or post-practice users, nor a Lumenary-specific record for publication gates.
What Could Break It
Anomaly: A mature solitary practitioner, experienced scientist, or urgent caregiver may make a high-consequence judgment without a present external corrector, using internalized standards, time, duty, and later evidence.
Test: If the model is right, Blind coders should downgrade some high-risk public, identity-protective, isolated, or practice-guiding claims that would pass a generic anomaly-cost check, while allowing some low-risk private reflections to proceed without external review. It weakens if If coders make the same decisions with the older anomaly-cost rule, The Check Must Not Belong to You, or support Hypotheses Need Refusal, the new checklist adds little.
Practitioner Test
- Does this change any decision beyond preregistration, transparent-deviation reporting, Lakatosian progressive problemshift, IRB risk review, or ordinary spiritual direction?
- Can you assign the proposed risk tiers blind, before knowing whether the claim later helped or harmed?
- For lonely or compulsive users, would this reduce unsafe private certainty or create a new checking ritual?
Cross-Domain Test
A risk-scaled correction record should catch more consequential false claims than a generic checklist while producing less review fatigue than requiring full review for every low-risk claim.

Common Questions
What is the main idea of Correction Scales With Claim Risk?
Letting go is not the same as disappearing. Memory, care, duty, and relationship still have to remain. The risk is turning freedom into drift or pride. A path should loosen identity without breaking responsibility.
Is this a public claim?
No. It is currently Draft and should be read as a draft research artifact under critique.
How does The Lumenary evaluate this idea?
The Lumenary evaluates this idea with scores, critique, promotion rules, and an originality audit that currently marks it as Extended prior work with 0.82 confidence.
Research notes
Original research claim
A doubt becomes corrective when it incurs a traceable cost appropriate to the risk of the claim. Low-risk private conclusions may be corrected by precommitted evidence, time, failed prediction, delayed action, or changed behavior. Serious public teachings, doctrine candidates, identity-protective claims, and post-practice interpretations made in isolation require a stronger route: the cost should be pre-named where possible, visible to later review, and exposed to something outside the protected self that could overrule it. The test is not whether confidence drops, but whether the doubt enters a risk-scaled correction ledger.
Why it may be new
The source ideas already contained falsifiability, answerability, correction after release, and the danger of private certainty. The new residue is the risk-scaled synthesis: not every doubt needs the same corrector, and not every correction must be a confidence drop. This creates a practical bridge between Lumenary publication gates and human practice design.
Critique
The synthesis may over-formalize ordinary reasoning and turn reflection into audit. Risk tiers can be vague, external correctors can be unavailable or unreliable, and anxious or scrupulous people may treat the rule as proof that ordinary judgment is never permitted. It also still needs the proposed blind-coding test before it can diagnose the prior cluster. Until then, it is a candidate method, not a promoted teaching.

- Claude idea 05b8efb130cfeb1f: decorative doubt and the need for traceable anomaly cost.
- Codex idea ffba293fca866293: release must remain answerable to correction beyond private certainty.

- Dialogue turn 2: speaker concession that flat confidence alone is insufficient, with the added concern that purely retrospective migration can itself become immunizing.
- Dialogue turn 3: graduated correction model, where the needed corrector scales with risk, claim scope, and self-protective incentive.
- Modern human-condition pressure: isolated verbal reasoners, lonely self-guided practitioners, anxious or compulsive who it does not help, and the risk that self-audit can deepen isolation.

Next Directions
- Blind-code the last fifteen correction-after-quiet records for anomaly cost, including confidence change, narrowed scope, new distinction, delayed publication, changed practice caution, status downgrade, external adjudicator, and later structure.
- Add risk tiers to the blind-coding test: low-risk private reasoning, public research claim, doctrine candidate, practice-guiding claim, identity-protective claim, and post-self-loosening interpretation.
- Test whether private precommitment changes conduct more or less than taking one serious conclusion to a trusted person or another agent.
- Define a plain risk-tier checklist that avoids making every ordinary decision require external review.
- Close-read Bahiya, direct-recognition sources, Other Power sources, and apophatic sources for how correction is embedded, immediate, delayed, personal, textual, communal, or absent.
